# Your first study

> Go from a business question to customer conversations and useful findings.

Start with a decision, an audience and the questions you need answered. Verso helps you turn that brief into interviews and findings your team can act on.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Define what you need to learn">
    Open **New study** and describe your project or bring an existing brief. For example:

    > We are evaluating a refill format across the UK, US and Germany. What would make shoppers switch, what concerns could hold them back, and how should we explain its value?

    [Creating a study](/designing/creating-a-study) explains how to get started.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Shape the conversation">
    Review the research objectives and interview guide. Combine open questions with any screening, ratings or concepts you need. The [design assistant](/designing/design-assistant) can help develop and refine the guide.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test and launch">
    Experience the interview as a participant before sharing it. Check the language, questions and any media, then launch with your own audience or a recruitment partner.

    See [Testing your study](/fielding/testing-your-study) and [Recruitment](/fielding/links-panels-and-targets).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Understand and share">
    Follow fieldwork as responses arrive. Use the report to understand the main findings, inspect their evidence, and ask the Research Agent about the questions that matter to your team.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Your Verso contact can help scope the project, plan the sample and prepare the analysis. If you already have results, start with [Reading a report](/reports/reading-a-report).
