# Participant experience

> Understand the interview experience from invitation to completion.

Participants open a secure study link in their browser. They do not need an account or an app. The opening explains the study and asks for any microphone or camera permissions required by the interview format. When a video study runs the camera check, which is on by default, a short sound and image screen follows: the microphone is confirmed and the picture is reviewed, with an adjustment suggested when the framing is poor.

The experience can combine:

* content screens for context, instructions, and stimuli;
* form questions for choices, scales, rankings, or written responses;
* voice questions for open answers and relevant follow-up questions.

Audio and video studies can allow typed answers. In an audio study, this can let someone continue without a microphone. Questions that require screen sharing need a recorded response.

Verso uploads recordings as the interview progresses. If a participant leaves and returns through the same link, they can usually resume where they stopped. At the end, they see the completion message or the redirect configured for their recruitment source and outcome.

Test the full journey on phone and desktop, including permissions, stimuli, conditional routes, and the final redirect.
