# Interview experience

> Choose how participants hear, see, and answer the interview.

Interviewer settings shape the participant experience across the whole study. Choose them before testing, then check the experience on the devices your audience is likely to use.

## Choose the interview format

* **Audio** keeps the conversation voice-led and can allow typed answers. Participants can continue without a microphone when typed answers are enabled.
* **Video** records camera and microphone input. Typed answers can also be enabled, except for questions that ask participants to share their screen.

You can also select the interview language, interviewer voice, subtitles, and the message shown when the study is closed. Add specialist names or product terms as key terms so the interviewer and transcript handle them more accurately.

A video study checks camera quality before the first question by default, so poor framing is raised while the participant can still act on it rather than after the study is analysed. Turn it off in advanced settings if your audience cannot meet it. Low-engagement responses can also be flagged for review.
